在臺灣問路的經歷,改變了我對臺灣人的印象,原來他們不像電視節目中那么火暴,也不像小S那么潑辣尖酸,公交車和大街上見到的臺灣人都一派平和。公交車和街道也比香港安靜,我從未見到大聲講電話的,也未見過高聲交談的。公交車和地鐵車廂內,即使人滿為患,博愛座位也常常空著,青壯年站在旁邊也不會去坐,這樣,老弱病殘者一上車就可以坐下,這就比被人讓座更自在。
其實我是最怕問路的,在臺灣的這些問路,大多不能算是問路,是人們主動過來幫忙的。那些指路者友愛親切的態度,使我感覺助人原來真的是一種快樂,而不是寫在日記里以博表揚的宣傳行為。最后那一晚在西門町,我們在摩肩接踵的鬧市中迷失了方向,雖然知道酒店就在附近,卻分不清東西南北了。也是在跟伙伴辨識方向時,旁邊一位小吃攤阿嬸主動搭了腔,她手往右邊一指道:“往這邊走,過三條街就是。”
